The East Fort Worth Community Jazz Band (EFWCJB) was formed in 2014 with the support of the East Fort Worth Community to provide a venue for young and seasoned musicians to improve their musical talents and spread the music of jazz throughout the community. A volunteer organization of approximately 26 accomplished musicians from all parts of the Metroplex, some who have played all their lives, others who have rediscovered their instruments and all who share a passion for music.
The EFWCJB performed at the 100th Anniversary of Burnett Park in Downtown Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Public Library 3rd Thursday Jazz Series, has headlined at Band on the Bricks in Sundance Square, performs at the University of Texas at Arlington Salute to Community Bands, and annually in the Fort Worth Parade of Lights and recently was featured on Channel 21 during the live broadcast of the GM Financial Parade of Lights.
The East Fort Worth Community Jazz Band also presents a Christmas concert, Spring Concert, and the Big Band Dinner and Dance to raise money for scholarships.
The EFWCJB is fortunate to have a community partner like the Meadowbrook Poly United Methodist Church (MPUMC) who provides a weekly space for their Tuesday night rehearsals. The mission of the EFWCJB is to perform throughout the Ft. Worth communities, continue to encourage musicians to join the jazz band as an outlet for building self-esteem, community service and providing scholarships to deserving seniors.
Our membership is open to all adults and student musicians age 17 and older. The band meets at MPUMC on Tuesday evenings from 7 – 8:30 pm. For those interested in joining us, visit our website at www.efwcjb.com or contact Kathy Bernal at [email protected].
